Oppo, I buy weird/cool car keys and I can't stop. Sometimes they're cut, sometimes they aren't, sometimes they're rare, sometimes they aren't. Do any of you guys/gals do this?

Here's a few from the stash and sorry about the quality, pics are from a potato.

Random findings: The STi key is commonly (and mistakenly) referred to as being made out of titanium, it is not. The 300ZX key is an OEM titanium blank, not a knock off, the 917 style key is heavier than it's plastic counterpart, and the Ralliart key is super 80s rad!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh... I don't think so. What I do know about this key is that it will work if cut for a 930 or similar vintage Porsche that uses the same style of key. The actual 917 key blank looks like it was made on a bench with a drill press and has a wider "neck/base" (I'm not a locksmith so pardon me if I get the terminology wrong) where the key blade meets the head. It might work though, we should get a 917 and check it out.

The plastic head key is actually lighter, something about composite vs alloy and whatnot.

Makes me sad that Ford couldn't do a super cool key for the GT or any of their other "special" cars. Look at that STi key or any of the EPIC Z car ones.

Well, since you asked...

Kinja'd!!!

The spare key to my FR-S. Because I'm immature, I liked how the salesman wrote my name on the back of one of the tags.

Kinja'd!!!

The key to my FR-S that I usually use, with a leather cover that my girlfriend got me for Christmas. And the key to her bitchin' brown RAV4.

Kinja'd!!!

My parents had Hondas when I was growing up, so I wanted one of these since I was three years old. I just bought a OEM blank on eBay. Having the key is not nearly as cool as three-year-old me thought it would be.

Kinja'd!!!

Three-year-old me also liked the key tags that dealers used because I used to want to sell cars. My dad saved the tag from his Tacoma for me. And, on the right, is the tag for the first car I bought myself. I kind of wish I kept a key for that car.

Kinja'd!!!

I was thinking of hanging a cork board with key hooks and getting several car keys to hang on there as a decoration. I bought a "lot" of vintage car keys on eBay, hoping to get something good. Aside from the many GM keys and AMC set, there are a few nice ones. I like the brass Lincoln/Mercury key; there's an unidentifiable key to what I'm guessing is a German car (it says Huf on the other side), and a Mustang key blank.

Kinja'd!!!

My favorite in the lot of eBay keys was this set of Toyota keys.

It can actually get damn pricey, or sometimes you can snag them from unsuspecting owners or nice guys. The most valuable keys I have are the uncut Nismo blanks which have gone for over 300.00 in some instances on ebay though I got mine for 25 bucks a pop :) The OEM titanium Nissan blank was one of the tougher keys to find as they're NLA and I've seen them go for near 300.00 but the price has started to fall quite a bit since you can get replicas for 30 bucks. The nice thing is if you're patient and good at the interwebz you can usually get keys for a decent deal. I also have been collecting for a long time so I just pick one up here and there, wait a while, poke around on ebay, grab another one.

I want to start collecting some die cast cars/models and placing their respective keys with them in a case some day. I have to finish finding some of the stragglers though like a Ferrari 288 GTO key, an OEM Fiat 131 key etc.

These were the prices for all of the above.
Porsche 944 blank was 18ish bucks

Porsche 930 blank was 24.00

Porsche 917 (style?) was 32.00

OEM 300ZX Titanium key was 93.00 but I had to ninja sneak buy it on ebay :) as they go for much more.

The old school Nissan key will fit certain Datsun/Nissan Roadsters and was 19ish

R34 GT-R key was 64.00

STi key was 23ish

Found six of these Nismo keys at a dealership in Gulfport, MS just sitting behind the counter. A little bit of man-flirting later and I got them for 25 a pop and he threw in one for free! A deal considering the typical price when I sold them was about 250ish!!!

The Nissan Roadster key with Fob was 29.00

The Ford GT was a bit over 20

The R33 GT-R was 18

One of the cut Nismo keys I have belonged to my little brothers 240SX which he has since sold, and the other was me being an idiot and cutting one for my Xterra! :D

The weird plastic head early 90s Nissan key (the hardest to find believe it or not since it's been superseded by a newer design came with the Z key from a guy that worked in the Nissan parts department.

The Gold "Fairlady Z" key is a Black Clover blank (they specialize in aftermarket weird keys) that is nigh impossible to find but one popped up on ebay for 24.00!

The Ralliart key was an ebay find for 6 bucks

The oval Nissan key was 15ish.

I've been trying to find a blank Suzuki CAR key from the mid-late 80's. I wanted to get an original Suzuki key for the car, instead of the replacement key I have. I was going to check the local locksmith, but I figured the odds of them having something like that would be pretty damn slim to none.
